Inspired by a great jazz instrumental version

The world really could use a revised version of "You Are My Sunshine" with non-creepy lyrics. And a good earwormy recording thereof.

Or at least, I could.

(For the record, the instrumental that inspired this was by Bert Kaempfert and his Orchestra.)

This is how I sing it to my kids:

You are my sunshine, one of my sunshines,
you make me happy when skies are grey,
you'll never know, dear, how much I love you,
please don't take my sunshine away.

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamt I held you in my arms,
when I awoke then, and found I had you,
how I cried aloud for your charms.

You are my sunshine, one of my sunshines,
you make me happy when skies are grey,
you'll never know, dear, how much I love you,
oh my sunshine, say you'll stay.
