Anyone else notice this about the new Harry Potter book?

Credit goes to [livejournal.com profile] suzimoses for noticing this: the new book is set in an 11.5-point font, whereas the fourth book (and, presumably, the previous ones, although they weren't handy) is in a 12-point font. I guess that's one way of holding down the pagecount!

I was suspecting they'd drop down a font size for the hardcover but I'd expected more of a drop than that, so I'm kinda surprised. I'm expecting them to drop even further for the paperback, even in trade.

Though I suppose it can't be any longer than a Robert Jordan book. :)

Well, that book started at over a thousand pages, and would have been a two-volume set. They dropped the font size down to cut out two hundred pages. As opposed to actual editing, but I haven't read this one yet, so I don't know how dense it is.
