Yup; I can do a little of the curves by adjusting the midpoint as well as the extremes, and this program can also do curves (but not directly on the histogram); I suspect what I need is more practice at using the features. Which is, of course, always the case!
The Golden Gate is even more evident in the full-size image, too.
