You know how tinyurl.com is great for making horribly long links into something you can put in a Usenet message, but the resulting link is entirely inscrutable and doesn't have any info about where it goes?

Someone has come up with a solution. It's just like tinyurl except the ID strings are made from the site name and a title that either you type in or is autograbbed from the page being linked to.

This looks like a very handy thing.

(Meanwhile, in completely the opposite direction, there's hugeurl.com.)

TinyURL has their own solution to the problem, also, although it requires each of the people clicking the link to have turned it on.

There was another site that came up with a workaround for this also quite a while back, but I can't remember who anymore. :/ They had inscrutable immediate links as well, but they took you to a page that showed you where it was going and let you proceed or not from there.
