Nov. 1st, 2007 03:14 pmYou know how tinyurl.com is great for making horribly long links into something you can put in a Usenet message, but the resulting link is entirely inscrutable and doesn't have any info about where it goes?
Someone has come up with a solution. It's just like tinyurl except the ID strings are made from the site name and a title that either you type in or is autograbbed from the page being linked to.
This looks like a very handy thing.
(Meanwhile, in completely the opposite direction, there's hugeurl.com.)

Date: 2007-11-01 11:15 pm (UTC)There was another site that came up with a workaround for this also quite a while back, but I can't remember who anymore. :/ They had inscrutable immediate links as well, but they took you to a page that showed you where it was going and let you proceed or not from there.
