Date: 2007-11-04 12:09 am (UTC)yesterday when grocery shopping (in our huge wholesale-type store), we were looking at their plants, and they had money trees. the paramour was wondering out loud why they're called that, and half-turned to the two asian-looking girls who were standing next to us to presumably consult their opinion on the matter (not because they were asian-looking, but because they were standing next to us). one of them said "i have no idea; i'll have to google that when i get home".
OMG. these are the fricking boonies. and random girls in the wholesale store google. my era has truly arrived.

Date: 2007-11-04 01:10 am (UTC)I've been there, I did a heavy dose of USENET from sometime in the early 80's 'till around the mid 90's. I've been drifting in an out since then. Like you, I only reluctantly joined LJ and it's ilk. Basically, I came here because it seemed that's where all my friends had gone.
