So it appears that one of the effects of describing a computer as "made of reliable" on LJ is that, when one next tries to boot it, it does utterly nothing other than spin up the fans and disks. And continues to do utterly nothing, despite an hour and a half of attempts at troubleshooting.

Sigh. And I'd even gone and bought a brand new 3C595 network card for it today.

*hugs* If it helps, you looked really cute while making the attempts.

Ouch! I feel your pain. And frustration, I confidently assume.

(I wonder if it works in reverse, though... maybe I should mention that my DVD drive suddenly stopped reading disks yesterday for no discernible reason, let's see if it helps...)

Sending electronic luck in your direction!

Even when these things work that way, they tend not to when done on purpose, I've found.

I tend to be able to find things when I've complained to someone else that I don't know where they are, but this never works when I do it on purpose. I sometimes say I took the 75% cost reduction for unconscious-uncontrolled on that power, and I don't have the points to upgrade ...

Ook!

I shall avoid saying any such thing for fear of shooting sprockets.

Hope your box is running well by the time you see this.
