Home now, from company's annual business meeting and general out-of-townness. (Given that we all telecommute, the location of the meeting floats from year to year. This year it was in Disney World.)

Am cold. The furnace appears to be dead -- it sort of runs a little, if I reset it, but it shortly appears to notice that the igniters are not igniting the incoming gas, at which point it appropriately gives up. Someone should be coming to fix it tomorrow, my landlady says.

There is much to talk about, but I am jet-lagged and sleepy and will talk about it tomorrow. Feel free to poke me in the comments section here if I don't get around to it!

Sleep now. (With lots of covers; it's 50 degrees in here!)

Curious Keshwyn would like to know when they fix it if you also have a broken thermocouple. :) Just 'cause I'm curious.

No, in this case it turned out to be a broken igniter -- when I rebooted the furnace, the various fans turned on like they should, and it started blowing gas out the burners as it should, and the igniter didn't do anything. And so it turned off the gas and tried again a couple of times and then quite appropriately gave up. The repair-people confirmed that this was indeed the igniter rather than the control circuitry, and replaced it, and it works quite warmly now.

And I've been reminded just how much difference being warm makes to my mood. Which is useful data!
