Yes, that's me in the picture. Yes, that's a wave splashing against a rock in the background. Yes, it's almost as close to me as it looks (about six feet away, I think).

No, I didn't get wet. :)

(This being no fault of the wave; I noticed that the sun had suddenly gone dark due to water above my head at about the same instant the picture was taken, and ran very very fast.)

One of the little beaches along the coast between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Just a couple of miles north of Pescadero, I think -- in that area it's mostly 100-foot cliffs facing the ocean (with farms going right out to the edges of the cliffs), but there are a few niches in the cliffs that have small beaches in them.
