Ok, so why exactly does this monitor use the "Exit" button to switch between its two inputs?

Clearly, yeah. It almost succeeded, too.

Have I mentioned that the manual is useless? But useless in about a dozen languages, which means it's rather thick and thus one would at first glance expect it to be useful.

For the same reason Windows uses the same button for start up and shutdown and my cell phone uses the same button for on an off. Though, of course, the labels do not reflect this in either case.

Yeah. It actually does make sense -- the button is an "exit" button when it's in the on-screen menu mode, but outside of the menus (which is when you'd want to switch inputs), there's nothing to exit, so arguably it's reasonable to use the button for something else.

So, an alternate question is why the labels are so bad....
