Date: 2004-03-18 10:50 pm (UTC)And this is, indeed, where I go to school; the pictures were all taken on my walk out to the car as I was coming home tonight.
(Incidentally, you probably caught the first version of the top picture while I had it up for 30 seconds or so -- the first time I resized it down to a postable size, the stars went all dim, and so I fixed that and reposted it.)

Date: 2004-03-18 10:56 pm (UTC)I was quite pleased with how well it turned out; I hadn't particularly been expecting it to work.

Date: 2004-03-19 01:02 am (UTC)Re: stanford pix
Date: 2004-03-19 01:03 am (UTC)It actually took surprisingly little enhancing, really; for reference, here's the constellation as it was straight out of the camera, with no enhancements or gamma-correction or anything. (I did move the bit of tree in closer so that it would be in the picture for comparison.)
This was a 15-second exposure at F2.9 -- and, yes, the ability to manually set those was one of the reasons I picked this camera -- with the camera's ISA-equivalent set (I think) at 200, for what that's worth.

Date: 2004-03-19 04:08 am (UTC)::sigh:: I so miss the way the Bay Area looks. The color of the vegetation, the color and style of the buildings. I have been in Maryland since 1985 and everything still looks Not Right.
