Tomorrow at the Santa Cruz County Fair

mrissa, the 4H shows and all that made me think of you, and of this story. ("Blue Ribbon," reprinted in Lightspeed Magazine. The rest of you should go read it, if you haven't already.)

But the thing I particularly have to share is that, tomorrow, on the Livestock Lawn between races by the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs, they are having a "kids pedal-tractor pull".

This sounds kind of amazing.

Are you going to the Santa Cruz County Fair? maybe we can meet up there, or before or after.

Sadly, not this year -- too much going on this weekend already (kids are exhausting! even when timeshared), and I just found out about it yesterday. But perhaps next year!

Fairs are great! The stuff in my story was made up but absolutely real in that it was exactly the kind of stuff people would put together for a fair if they had that set of stuff. Hey, we have little two-person space mining vehicles, I wonder what fun things we can do with those for our kids! Same mentality as the "kids pedal-tractor pull" exactly.

That kind of makes my story sound perkier than it is. Um.
