In case you happen to email me....

When you email me, it gets bounced to several different computers. Two of those computers are in my office; they're the ones I usually use to read my mail with.

This morning, there was a planned power outage in my building. As best I can tell, the building's internet gateway failed to come back up afterwards. The person who can fix the problem won't be in until Monday. (We shall omit the grumbling about this setup.)

Thus, if you email me, you'll get various bounce messages that say things like "Email couldn't be delivered after three hours; will try again later". This doesn't actually mean I didn't get the email; it also goes to a third computer system that's still on, and which I can use (albeit awkwardly) to read my mail.

Of course, there'd be no such problem if you had an account on jinx and got all your mail from there. :)

Of course, there'd also be no such problem if I hadn't, four years ago, got fed up with system outages on the Leland machines and decided to run my own email server, too.

Meanwhile, I'm just waiting for Alexei to set up an account for me.

Huh...when'd you ask him for one? It should be really quick. I'll nag him about it on Monday if I remember.

I think it was something like a month and a half ago or somesuch. He's probably completely forgotten by now -- and I'd forgotten to remind him, too. :)

Yes please. And I seem to remember we'd talked about the email handling last time we were talking about this, and I hadn't gotten around to deciding how I'd like to do it. I think what I'd like is to just have everything @dpdx.net get delivered to my account, as you'd suggested.
