I just made a post in a Usenet thread talking about clothing and the signals it sends, about my 11th-grade English teacher, who always wore a coat and tie when he was teaching -- but it was an obviously comfortable coat, a completely outlandish tie, and paired with well-word blue jeans. And no socks.

I did a Google search for him, to see what he was up to, and one of the top ten hits is this MySpace page, from someone who was one of his students almost ten years ago. He's in her shortlist of "heroes", along with Jesus, the apostle Paul, her husband, and her parents.

MySpace pages automatically play music sometimes.

Oy, does this page do that? My browser doesn't understand the concept, for which I am deeply thankful, but it hadn't occurred to me that that might lead to accidentally inflicting such things on other people without warning. Sorry about that!
