Thesis defense, part 2.
Done. Have passed.
It was fun. I'd practiced enough that the presentation went smoothly and I actually had enough time at the end to expand things out a bit. And the closed question-session part afterwards was quite good; the questions were all asked from curiousity and wanting to understand things rather than only to test me, and I got a sense that the people on my committee felt that I'd done good and important work -- and that they'd thought about it and understood what I'd done.
Am rather sleepy now. Will post more later. Right now, I just want to say "thank you" to all of you who sent well-wishes and encouragement, and to all of you who took time out of your Friday mornings to show up and be supportive. It meant a lot.

We are all, of course, pleased but not surprised.

Yay! Congratulations. "Fun" was the big surprise from my own defence too. Sleep well.

Yay for curious questions! (After that one at the open part, I was kind of nervous on your behalf about that bit.)

Would have liked to be there the open session, but I was up during the night with the headache, and not feeling fit to drag myself over to Stanford in time. A pity, as it sounded interesting.

See that line of rodents, all decked out in mortarboards and academic gowns?

Conga Rats!
OK, there are the silly rats for you. Adding a slightly serious note, I'm delighted for you. Yay Doctor Moses!

(When I saw this post in my flist, I broke out into actual, spontaeous applause and cheering, startling Danny into asking WTF? When I told him, he began to cheer as well. Thought you'd like to know. :) )
Yay!

(In a month or so, I'll start muttering at you about Uru again. I figure you might have recovered by then. ;)
