Thesis defense, part 2.
Jul. 27th, 2007 01:22 pmDone. Have passed.
It was fun. I'd practiced enough that the presentation went smoothly and I actually had enough time at the end to expand things out a bit. And the closed question-session part afterwards was quite good; the questions were all asked from curiousity and wanting to understand things rather than only to test me, and I got a sense that the people on my committee felt that I'd done good and important work -- and that they'd thought about it and understood what I'd done.
Am rather sleepy now. Will post more later. Right now, I just want to say "thank you" to all of you who sent well-wishes and encouragement, and to all of you who took time out of your Friday mornings to show up and be supportive. It meant a lot.

Date: 2007-07-27 09:30 pm (UTC)Would have liked to be there the open session, but I was up during the night with the headache, and not feeling fit to drag myself over to Stanford in time. A pity, as it sounded interesting.

Date: 2007-07-28 01:02 am (UTC)(When I saw this post in my flist, I broke out into actual, spontaeous applause and cheering, startling Danny into asking WTF? When I told him, he began to cheer as well. Thought you'd like to know. :) )
