So, I just got an advertisement in my email inbox, from a company I've had some interactions with (so it's not really spam), about a local seminar they're presenting. The body of the email is:

With your current e-mail settings, you receive only text messages. To deliver your message in a concise and visually appealing manner, we have created this message for you in HTML. To view your personal message through the Web, visit the link above. If you cannot click on it, you can copy and paste it into your Web browser.

This seems to be somewhat missing the point of "advertising"....

I was discussing family email with my mom at one point, and said, "Did you get the one with the giant purple letters?" (Mom didn't send that one, she has better taste.)

I cheerfully informed her that in my email browser, all letters are the same size regardless of who sends the message, and none of them are purple. She wanted to know if this was an email browser she could use. ;)
