There are several, actually, but the one I know best is Madeline L'Engle's "A Wrinkle In Time."

I was hoping to snare someone on Edward Bulwer-Lytton, who made it infamous, but his actually starts with "It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents..." and goes on for a rather longer sentence.
